Here is a short round up of what I have been up to the last few weeks and as soon as I have a block of time to write some more articles and reviews I’ll get down to it.

The reason I have been too busy is that I have been working very closely with Xavier Morel (VX1/Juno Reactor) on a hard techno collaboration project called Horten 229. He has the ideas and meticulously crafted sounds and I have the patience and insanity to sit long enough with them and make something coherent out of all the booms, clicks and bleeps. Xavier is a DJ par excellence and tracks from his VX1 project are still making their way into charts the world over so I am thrilled to be engineering music for him.

I also worked on a couple of remixes.

The first remix I worked on was for Greta Cottage Workshop, which was way left field of what I normally would tackle – a vocal, acoustic dub track which I reworked into a lush and melodic electronic track and we will see what happens with that because, due to some crossed wires in my studio (and my hectic schedule of late), I submitted the final track after the remix package was released… oops.

I also finished a minimal techno remix for local Japanese label Bauart records and just received confirmation that they will take it.

On top of all that I have been working on a sound design project for Ultra Super New which required a few field recording sessions before editing and syncing the manipulated audio to two 1 minute videos which I will link to when they go live.

I also made a trip down to Yamanashi prefecture to Aokigahara Jukai (the infamous forest on the slopes of Mt Fuji where compasses don’t work and many people go to commit suicide) to do some field recordings in the forest and have some pictures taken for a four part article I will post early in 2011.

So there you have it.

Keeping busy, rocking out and having a blast.
