GCW024 – Shane Berry – Trial & Error E.P

Tracklist

For the time being
Trial & Error
Whenever it Happens

Description

SB brings it to the Cottage once more, in his own beautiful & highly danceable manner. He has provided GCW with the most output – again taking his productions in a slightly different direction, yet always with his trademark Big Room feel. Sasha had this well in advance, and it’s in his sets already. Standard. Thanks to the man like.

For The Time Being: Shane is rolling with the punches, Detroit Acid with stadium sized balls. A huge sense of spacial awareness carries itself along to a whimsical melody and playful entity. An embroilment construes & catalyses into a serious slice of quality vegan #ModProg gear.

Trial and Error: Rises from a familiar place we all recognize and cleverly morphs it’s shape entirely into a athletic new form. Once SB is done twisting your melon, a deliberation of pondering arises with almost reflective charm. Serious jam sandwich.

Whenever it Happens: Ready to future funk, with Saturns disco behaviour locked down onto a mean beatdown flavour. Severely massive and all engulfing, providing haunt with its jaunt . . . a true Techno Monster

Release Date: 20th August 2010

GCW015 – Shane Berry

Plugitin
Putiton
Pullitout

How to use a Turntable E.P

Fresh from remix duty for the Little White Earbuds Download of the week, Shane Berry brings his latest E.P to the table. The man takes a swerve in a slightly different direction this time around, but its still 100% Shane, and still Electronic Music from the Soul directed at the Dancefloor. We at Greta Cottage are pleased to see him going from strength to strength as an Artist, and it’s our pleasure to give him the creative freedom he deserves. (the role of the label has changed, but this remains the same)
Plugitin : Micro house wriggler from Captain Berry. Foraging harmonious repetition and digitising bass stabs deliver to industrious effect. Strutting flecks tie in with light whistles of acid taking this into a deepened Detroit flow (This has the potential to swiftly blow ones socks clean off)

Putiton : A proper psytech warbler that touchingly shares a piece of it’s ever evolving self. A maze of 303 oddities reach out with pulsating melody and slick charm. Play it out & about, then watch people wriggle with joy.

Pullitout
: A sinister synthesized induced rustler encapsulates a sense of virtual empathy and analog dismissing togetherness, with interweaving filter manipulations attributing to an eventual warm spontaneous combustion. Hi tech soul from Tokyo resident Shane. Can you feel me?

This has been a Sasha Secret Weapon for a month or so, its time to spread the love.

(Jamie “winkle” Slater on the track descriptions. the man is a lunatic. It was his birthday this weekend. He is still lost in East Prawle)

Shane Berry : Placenta E.P (New Friends Vol 1) GCW005

Placenta – CLIP
Saucerful – CLIP

A lesson in how you should always have an open mind, especially when introduced to new people and music. This E.P almost never happened due to self-imposed rules. We are so glad it did!

PLACENTA – An inspiring piece of Techno. The compulsory phat rolling bassline intertwined with intricate melodies create an immense sense of atmosphere but with enough oommf to deliver at ‘peaked’ moments

SAUCERFUL – Crazily deep venture. Envelops you immediately on first listen, but with enough detail to make you want to hear it again. It has the strength to take the right dancefloor, at the right time to the further reaches. Reminiscent of the electronic sound that you first fell in love with!

A Powerful release, we are proud to have Shane on board.

How Shane arrived at Greta Cottage Workshop

This is a little different to how Greta normally works. Up to this point, all Greta Artists have been long time friends of mine.

Rennie Foster dropped me a mail and said could I do him a favour and consider a good friend of his for the label. Immediately I said No, as I wanted the label to be true to its concept. However, after thinking it over, and chatting it out with Jamie ‘winkle’ Slater (A Greta DJ/ A&R type bod) we decided to go for it. After all, anyone that Rennie is prepared to go to bat for like that is a friend of mine! As it turned out Shane is a totally sound bloke, and we got him to do a Swayzak remix for us at the same time! (Coming soon on 240volts) so there you go. – Matt

Greta Cottage Workshop has been a long time coming.
“Only” Matt Densham has been tweaking about behind the scenes of plenty labels and projects for many moons. He was once old enough to know better, he is now too old to change!
Swayzak Recordings, Peng Records, Post Office Records, 240 Volts & Cadence have all had a helping hand or two. (Currently Label Manager @ 240volts, Swayzak Recordings & Serieculture, as well as Greta Cottage)
He is also pretty handy at Mastering, most infamously being behind the remastering of Swayzak : Snowboarding in Argentina

A Selection of Feedback – Rennie Foster : Songs for Homeless Housers GCW003

As of Now (DTS-027) Out Now.

Showing his versatility as a true creator, Shane presents a tech-house masterpiece with progressive over-tones destined for big club play and big name support. A beautiful bell melody drives the straight ahead house groove until a growling monster of a bassline creeps up from out of the abyss and leads the crowd into deeper, darker territory that is truly not of this world. This is the kind of music that crosses several genre lines with its stylized production equally at home in the boxes of both minimal, progressive, tech-house and straight ahead techno jocks. No borders dance music, welcome to Dirty Works.

Dynamoelectric EP out on Beatport
